Lamb carcasses were steady to $10 lower
last week, putting pressure on live lamb prices
this week. Fat and feeder lambs were unevenly
weak to a couple of dollars lower.
Buyers And Sellers Dollars Apart On
Plains Fed Cattle
Midweek came and went without a hint of
activity in the Plains fed cattle trade. Buyers
and sellers were as much as $4 apart, the former
bidding $64 and the latter seeking $67 to $68.

Ralph L. Schwartz was a member of the one
and only survey team to evaluate the damage done
during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s. At 92, he is
also the oldest living member of the Soil
Conservation Service, today titled the Natural
Resources Conservation Service. He joined the
ranks only a month after the new organization was

A federal appeals court has denied radical

U.S. Meat Production 2.2% Above A Year

Total red meat production under federal
inspection last week was estimated at 910.7
million pounds, 2.2 percent more than a week
earlier and 3.7 percent above a year ago.
Cumulative meat production for the year to date
was up 2.2 percent at 29.88 billion pounds.
Domestic Wool Slow, Aussie Wools Lower
Domestic wool trading remained slow last
week, demand light to very light. There have been
no recent sales of wool from producers to
warehouses or mills.

Weak
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to
weak on light offerings in Kansas direct trade
last week. The weather was warm with very little
moisture on the west side of the state. Sales
were confirmed on 3249 head.
Lampasas Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices
Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 higher,
slaughter cows and bulls $1-1.50 lower. Receipts
totaled 1249 head.
Most Fredericksburg Feeder Cattle Lower
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 lower,
slaughter cows steady. Receipts totaled 1471
head.
Milano Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices
Higher
Feeder steers sold steady to $1 higher,
spots $2 up, heifers steady to $1 higher,
slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled
1041 head.
San Saba, Brownwood, Mason Cattle Higher
Feeder steers sold $2-4 higher in Mason,
Brownwood and San Saba last week, heifers steady
to $3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $1-4
higher, bred stock cows and pairs steady.
Receipts totaled 3144 head at the three sales.
Cuero Feeder Cattle Prices Termed Mixed
Feeder steers and heifers sold in a mixed
trade, cutter slaughter cows were 50 cents lower,
fat cows 50 cents higher, bulls lower. Receipts
totaled 1478 head.
