Domestic Wool Slow,
Aussie Wools Lower
GREELEY, Colo. (USDA) Domestic wool
trading remained slow last week, demand light to very
light. There have been no recent sales of wool from
producers to warehouses or mills.
In warehouse to processor trading, a total of 240,000
pounds was reported: graded, some classed, staple length,
21-22 micron was$1-1.10 clean delivered, 22-23 micron 95
cents to $1, 23-24 micron 80-85 cents, 24-25 micron 75-80
cents; lamb wool 20.5-22 micron, 1-1.5 inches 40 cents.
Australia's eastern market indicator closed down 13
cents at 548A cents per kilo clean. Clearance was 77
percent on a total offering of 92,183 bales. Most wools
were 18-22 micron, which declined in price from 1-5
percent. The grease 21 micron contracts for October were
down two cents at 532A, December down six at 546,
February down eight at 561 and April down 10 at 578.
Clean 19 micron wool contracts for October were up 18 at
961A, December up 18 at 967, February up 33 at 988, and
April up six at 965. The 23 micron contracts for October
were down two at 402A, December down three at 401,
February down three at 411, and April down three at 459.
New Zealand offered a total of 13,652 clean tons. The
strong wool indicator was up four at 365NZ cents per kilo
clean. Clearance was 72 percent.
