Lamb Meat Drops For Fifth Week
Carlot dressed lamb prices fell again last week for the fifth week in a row. Lightweights held steady while 55 pounds and up were $3-5 lower. Fat and feeder lambs were mostly steady, though some areas were softer.

PRCA's All-Around Heating Up; Whitfield Maintains His Lead
Professional rodeo's all-around competition continues to heat up, particularly in the top three spots. Fred Whitfield, Hockley, Texas, maintains the lead with $138,952, but Ty Murray, Stephenville, Texas, and Cody Ohl, Orchard, Texas, exchanged places again this past week. Murray currently holds second place with $118,803 and Ohl follows with $115,265.

Feeder Steers, Heifers Firm In Angelo Special Sale Monday
Steer and heifer prices were firm here Monday in the season's sixth special feeder sale at Producers Livestock Auction. Trading was termed active and demand good, the quality attractive including several large bunches of fresh native cattle. Calves made up 70 percent of receipts, which totaled approximately 4500 head compared to 2392 at the previous special sale last month and 3722 for the same day last year.

Feeder steers and heifers sold generally steady to $2 lower across the country last week, but several places were steady to $2 higher. Numbers with lower trends overwhelmed as most calves sold lower and continue to make up an unusually large percentage of increased receipts.

Texas Fed Cattle Closed Higher Last Week In Wednesday Trading
Slaughter steers and heifers closed $1-2 higher last week in Texas feedlot trading. The trade was at a standstill until around noon Wednesday, when packers made their move. Bids were increased to $66, $66.50, then to $67, where much of the trade took place.

Angelo Feeder Cattle Steady, Lambs Lower
Feeder lambs sold $1-3 lower this week, slaughter lambs steady, slaughter ewes weak to $2 lower. Two day receipts totaled 16,810 head.

Cape Mohair Sale Sharply Higher
The South African Cape mohair sale Tuesday had sharply higher prices on most offerings. Demand was termed good and competition strong. A total of 2141 bales, or 645,000 pounds, were offered and 98 percent sold.

Domestic Wool Slow, Aussie Wools Lower
Wool trading was slow the past few weeks, demand and seller interest both light. In warehouse trading a total of 120,000 pounds of graded, 2.5-2.8 inch French wool, 22-24 micron, brought 60-70 cents clean delivered.

Feeder steers and heifers sold firm to $3 higher, slaughter cows $1-2 higher, bulls steady, bred stock cows and pairs firm. Receipts totaled 1265 head.

Feeder steers and heifers sold steady, slaughter cows steady, bulls $2-3 lower. Receipts totaled 1612 head.

Junction Stock Angora Nannies Trade Higher
Feeder lambs sold steady, slaughter ewes and bucks steady, stock Angora nannies $2-4 higher, slaughter Angoras steady, slaughter Spanish nannies $1-2 lower, kids steady. Receipts totaled 6483 head.

Cuero Feeder Cattle Prices Mixed Affair
Feeder steers weighing more than 400 pounds and heifers over 300 pounds sold steady to strong, lighter weights lower, slaughter cows and bulls a little lower. Receipts totaled 2550 head.

Llano Feeder Steers And Heifers Steady
Feeder steers sold steady with a little less action, heifers steady, slaughter cows steady, bulls $2 lower. Receipts totaled 725 head.

San Saba, Brownwood, Mason Feeders Strong
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to strong last week in Mason, Brownwood and San Saba, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $2 lower, stock cows in good demand. Receipts at the three sales totaled 4458 head.

U.S. Meat Production 1.1% Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 926.4 million pounds, 1.1 percent more than a week earlier and 5.9 percent above a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was up 2.4 percent at 34.12 billion pounds.

Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-3 higher, slaughter cows $3-4 lower, bulls $1-2 lower. Receipts totaled 1861 head.

Kansas Direct Feeder Cattle Mostly Steady

Isa Cattle Sells 197 Bulls For $2260 Avg.
Isa Cattle Company sold 197 Beefmaster bulls for $445,200 to average $2260 each, in their 38th annual bull sale here. Buyers were from seven states, Mexico and Brazil.

Feeder steers sold steady to $4 lower, heifers steady to $2 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 2390 head.

Fredericksburg Feeder Steers, Heifers Higher
Feeder steers sold $2 higher, heifers $2-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2 lower. Receipts totaled 2778 head.
