Domestic Wool Slow,
Aussie Wools Lower

GREELEY, Colo. —(USDA)— Wool trading was slow the past few weeks, demand and seller interest both light.

In warehouse trading a total of 120,000 pounds of graded, 2.5-2.8 inch French wool, 22-24 micron, brought 60-70 cents clean delivered.

Australia's eastern market indicator was down 14 cents to close at 547A per kilo clean. A total of 66,927 bales were offered with clearance at 75 percent. Grease wool 21 micron contracts for October were down 13 cents at 527, December down 15 at 544, February down 17 at 563 and April down 14 at 584. The 19 micron cash settlement clean wool contract for October was down 17 at 964, December down 13 at 965, February down 15 at 973 and April down 11 at 985. The 23 micron cash clean wool contract for October was down five cents at 390, December down 12 at 390, February down five at 399 and April down five at 447.

In New Zealand strong wool was unchanged at 360NZ cents per kilo clean, medium down three at 409, fine down 35 at 921, lamb wool up two at 317. Of 2581 clean tons offered, 84 percent sold. The U.S. exchange rate is $1 U.S. to 5162 cents NZ.
