Jud McKnight of Roswell is reported to have sold his lambs, around 3500 to 4000 head, to Max Riley of Roswell for delivery right away at $16.75 cwt.

Dan Kinsel and Dan Kinsel, Jr., Cotulla, Texas, have bought 2800 mutton lambs from Pat and Abb Rose of Del Rio at $15.50 cwt., to be delivered in Del Rio by October 15 with three percent shrink.

Charles Silver, Morton, sold 250 mixed calves, expected to weigh 400 pounds on delivery November 1, to Hold Holloway, Lubbock, at $19 and $20 on heifers and steers.

Henry A. Bledsoe of Wray, Colorado, recently sold 450 choice quality mixed Hereford calves averaging 440 pounds at $20.50 for heifers and $24 for steers to Lowell Sarnes of Lexington, Nebraska.

Ben Louder, Canyon, this week bought and received one load of steer yearlings weighing 905 pounds from a Mr. Gray of Texline at $19.50 cwt.

Dick Jackson of Guymon, Okla., sold 300 steer yearlings expected to weigh under 700 pounds at $25.90 for late October delivery to Kansas buyers; also 140 heifer yearlings expected to weigh about 650 at $24 for Nov. 1 delivery to an out-of-state buyer.

Bert Northcutt of Canyon sold 100 heifer yearlings estimated to weigh about 700 pounds at $24.50 for delivery this week to Ralph Collinson, Amarillo. He also sold, to Bill Allen of Wheeless, Okla., 35 heifer calves weighing 404 at $30 delivered last week.

Sam Kotara, Groom, Texas, bought 170 mixed calves in the Quitaque and Silverton areas at $28 and $30 for heifers and steers respectively for current delivery; these calves are estimated to weigh 425 pounds but the contract calls for payment of $25 and $27 for any calves weighing over 450 pounds.

Charles Waller, Roswell, N.M., bought this week for delivery next week 2800 mixed ewe and mutton crossbred whiteface lambs at $17.50, ewes to be weighed separately. Included were 2000 from Fred Corn & Sons, Roswell, and 800 from Richard Corn & Son, Roswell.

John Beasley of Clayton, N.M., is reported to have sold 100 steer yearlings weighing around 650 pounds at $26.50 for current delivery to out-of-state buyers.

Blan and Ned Burson, Channing, sold 700 mixed calves at $22 and $24 to a local buyer; first delivery averaged 400 pounds, and the second was expected to be a little lighter, around 375.

Chester Fires and his son A.J. of Wellington, Texas, delivered their 761 pound steers off summer pasture on Johnson's Mesa, east of Raton, N.M., to Wheatheart Feeders, Perryton, Texas; the cattle gained 260-276 pounds at a cost of 9½ cents a pound.

John Drayton, Wood Lake, Neb., sold at auction on his ranch 2200 steers ranging in weight from 625 to 875 pounds at mostly $30 for cattle weighing over 700 and up to $32 for the light end; all the cattle went to Iowa and Illinois buyers.

Roy Thompson, Las Vegas, N.M., and A.G. Graham, Plainview, sold off the ranch at Mosquero, N.M., 2000 No. 1 Okie steers weighing 650-675 pounds at $29 to Colorado feeders. Thompson sold off the ranch at Mora, N.M., 300 Holstein steers weighing 950 pounds at $23.

Texas sheep and lambs on feed Oct. 1 totaled 108,000 head, up three percent from the Sept. 1 figure and one percent from Oct. 1 of last year, the Texas Crop and Livestock Reporting Service reported.

Isa Cattle Co.'s Benchmark Beefmaster sale at San Angelo averaged $1747 per head on 381 bulls in what was billed as the largest bull sale in the history of the breed.

Average was $1838 on 309 head of 18-months to two year-old bulls and $1358 on 72 yearling bulls. There were 81 buyers from nine states and Mexico. James Howell, San Angelo, bought the highest selling bull, consigned by L.G. Hargis Jr., Waurika, Okla., for $8000.

The Midwestern electronic lamb auction sold one load of slaughter lambs from Iowa at $60.25. It sold a load in Illinois for $61.

Bill Ragland, Brenham, bought in the local area 305 No. 1½ crossbred heifers weighing 450 pounds at $78.57, 165 similar heifers weighing 519 at $77.13; 140 No. 2 crossbred heifers weighing 442 at $76.77, and 147 plain crossbred heifers weighing 429 at $73.37.
