Vann-Roach Cattle Co., Fort Worth, bought in North Texas for June 2000 delivery 240 No. 1 English and exotic cross heifers to weigh 700 pounds at $76; in West Texas for current delivery two loads of similar steers weighing 650 pounds at $81.50; in the Texas Panhandle for current delivery three loads of similar steers weighing 725 at $81, also three loads of such steers weighing 750 at $79.50 and four loads of similar heifers weighing 725 at $76.50.

Ty Jones Cattle Co., Canyon, bought in Eastern New Mexico for March delivery 1000 No. 1 steers to weigh 750 pounds at $81; in New Mexico for current delivery 180 No. 1 native steers weighing 600 at $82.

Brown Cattle Co., Abilene, sold to Kansas buyers one load of No. 1 and better mostly black English steers and bulls weighing 417 pounds at $90.12 f.o.b., also three loads of No. 1 English and quarter-Brahman cross steers and bulls weighing 525 at $83.97 delivered, and a load of No. 1 black and black whiteface cows, running ages and mostly six months or better bred, at $575 per head delivered; to a Texas Panhandle buyer one load of English and English cross heifers weighing 325 at $87.60 delivered; to a Colorado buyer three loads of No. 1 and better English steers weighing 661 at $78.39 delivered; to an Oklahoma buyer a load of No. 1 and better English feeder steers weighing 678 at $76 delivered. The firm received in Central Texas six loads of black English and Charolais cross steers weighing 547 at $83 f.o.b. the ranch.

USDA reports 3850 head of feeder cattle selling direct off Oklahoma range, including: for May 2000 delivery medium and large No. 1 steers to weigh 750-775 pounds at $80; for April similar steers to weigh 750 at $81; for January similar steers to weigh 750 pounds at $81; for current delivery steers weighing 585 pounds at $83, 675 pounds at $81, 700 pounds at $80-81, 750-775 pounds at $80-81, and 800 pounds at $78; similar heifers weighing 550 pounds at $77.50 and 700 pounds at $77.

Direct feeder cattle trade in the Northwest as confirmed by USDA totaled 4600 head. Medium and large No. 1 steers weighing 500-550 pounds brought $85-90 f.o.b. Idaho, Oregon and Washington, 600-700 pounds $83-86 f.o.b. Idaho and Washington, 700-725 pounds $81-82 f.o.b. Oregon and Washington, and 850 pounds $74.50 f.o.b. Washington; similar heifers weighing 500-550 pounds were $80 f.o.b. Oregon, Idaho and Washington, 600 pounds $81 f.o.b. Idaho, and 875-900 pounds $72.50 f.o.b. Idaho.

Montana direct feeder cattle sales by USDA count came to 3575 head. Medium and large No. 1 steers to weigh 485 pounds for November delivery brought $100, 500-550 pounds $90-95, and 600 pounds $88-89.50; similar heifers for November to weigh 460 pounds were $93 and 550 pounds $84.50; similar steers weighing 460 pounds were $99 for current delivery, 500 pounds $94.50 and 725 pounds $76.50, heifers weighing 630 pounds $85.
