PORTALES, N.M. — The Western Governor's Association will host a meeting on the lesser prairie chicken Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Portales Chamber of Commerce. The Lesser Prairie Chicken Interstate Working Group will open the meeting at 8 a.m. with a update on their conservation efforts. Sessions are also planned on habitat and research. WGA has also planned a dialogue with landowners and community and economic development leaders. The Oct. 28 meeting will end at 5 p.m. and be followed by a reception courtesy of the WGA. An optional field trip to lesser prairie chicken sites on the Weaver Ranch and New Mexico Game and Fish areas is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 29. |
