Domestic Wool Slow,
Aussie Wools Higher
GREELEY, Colo. (USDA) Wool trading was at
a complete standstill last week, demand and seller
interest both light. Limited fall shearing was noted in
Idaho and a few Midwestern areas.
Warehouse trading saw sales on 100,000 pounds of 22.9
micron, staple length plus, average yield, at 85 cents
clean, f.o.b. the warehouse; 21-21.2 micron, staple
length plus, low to average yield, was 90 cents.
Australia's eastern market indicator was up nine cents
to close at 562A per kilo clean. A total of 69,455 bales
were offered with clearance at 91 percent. The grease
wool 21 micron contract for October was up 10 cents at
531A, December up eight at 559, February up four at 576
and April up six at 598. The 19 micron cash settlement
clean wool contract for December was down seven at 986,
February down 10 at 993, April down five at 1005, and
June down four at 1009. The 23 micron cash clean wool
contract for December was up one at 396, February up one
at 405, April up one at 456, and June up one at 417.
New Zealand strong wool was down one at 369NZ cents
per kilo clean, medium up 16 at 406, fine up 32 at 917.
Of 1274 clean tons offered, 87 percent sold.
