Ben Dechert, Junction, bought and received this week
2000 feeder mutton lambs weighing around 70 pounds at $16
for clipped lambs, $17.50 for wooled lambs. The lambs
were bought in the Junction area and will be placed on
fields and pastures in that area.

Wingate, 800 fall shorn whiteface mutton lambs weighing
66 pounds at $16.50.

weighing about 1000 pounds at $16 cwt. to the 66 Packing
Co., Tucumcari, for delivery this week.

calves weighing about 400 at $33 from Steve Treadway of

calves weighing 473 pounds at $30 and 53 mixed calves

Buddy Major, Magdalena, N.M., sold 400 choice Angus
steer calves weighing 400 pounds at $22.50 to an Illinois
buyer. One load of these cattle, topped out for the
Clovis Cattle Festival, brought the sale's top price at
$27.75.

Cleve Jones, Sonora, sold 700 Hereford and Angus
calves averaging 375 pounds at $19 and $22.50 to a West
Texas buyer.

Vince Lee and O.M. Lee Estate, Magdalena, N.M., sold
800 heifer yearlings weighing about 625 pounds at $17.75
to a Denver buyer.

Fred Daugherty, Clovis, sold 100 heifer and steer
calves weighing 402 pounds at $21 and $23 to Owen
Seamands, Hereford. Daugherty & Felton sold off their
ranch at Kenna, N.M., 80 mixed calves weighing 340 pounds
at $21.50 and $23.50 to W.H. Wall, Texico.

The entire herd of registered and commercial Herefords
from the TO Ranch, east of Raton, N.M., were bought and
shipped by the Little Horn Land & Livestock Co.,
Wyola, Mont. The Santa Fe railroad used more than 100
cars in two special trains to move the cattle to their
new home.
30 YEARS AGO
Simpson Bros., Robert Lee, sold 1200 Hereford, Angus
and black baldface steers, they summered at Prairie City,
S. D., weighing 791 at $30, and 55 No. 1-2 Okie steers
weighing 797 at $29; about half were Texas cattle shipped
there in May weighing 501, the rest native cattle bought
there at the same time weighing 451.

Fifty-eight bulls averaged $990 per head in the Jack
V. Williams performance tested Hereford sale in San
Angelo. The first 10 bulls averaged $1875, the first 20
head $1473.

Arizona-Colorado Land & Cattle Co., Phoenix,
expanded its operations through the acquisition of a
three year lease-option on the Cone Bros. Ranch at Plant
City, Fla. Total purchase price to be paid by the company
on exercise of its option was in excess of $4 million.
This would include 12,600 acres of deeded land and more
than 4000 head of cattle.

weighing 1075 pounds, 70-80 percent choice, at $27.25.

and calf pairs, cows 3-6 years old weighing 950 pounds,
calves 380 pounds, at $300 per pair, and 10 dry cows at
$180 per head, all near Raton, N.M.; 175 Hereford heifer
and steer calves weighing 400 pounds at $125 straight
across in the Grants, N.M. area.

Potter Craig, Clovis, N.M., bought in the Kenna, N.M.
area 550 choice native Hereford heifers weighing 650
pounds at $27.50.

The 13 month loss period in cattle feeding has been
the longest in the industry's history, said Glenn Deen,
Dumas, president of the Texas Cattle Feeders Assn. at
that group's annual convention at Amarillo. He said
several hard lessons have come out of the experience.

about 250,000 pounds of wool, fall ewe wool 50-56 cents,
one choice lot to 60, bulk 53-56; and fall lamb wool
40-48 cents.

Fall mohair hit a new high in a sealed bid offering at
Producers Wool and Mohair Co. The firm sold 100 percent
of its mohair accumulation. About 380,000 pounds of fall
adult hair sold for $3.859 per pound, about 55,000 pounds
of yearling $4.519 and about 40,000 pounds of kid $5.561.
