U.S. Wool Stymied,
Aussie Wools Higher

GREELEY, Colo. —(USDA)— Wool trading was nearly at a standstill in all areas across the country. Demand remains light, as does seller interest.

In Territory trading, Oregon sold 100,000 pounds' accumulation of 3-4 inch wools, 25-32 micron bringing 12 cents f.o.b. grease, no value placed on black wool.

In the Midwest, farm flock wools, fine whiteface 22-25 micron, staple, brought 15-20 cents, medium whiteface and crossbred 25-28 micron 10 cents, blackface and coarse whiteface 28-32 micron five cents.

No warehouse to processor trading was reported.

Australia's eastern market indicator was up 18 cents to close at 594A per kilo clean. A total of 80,934 bales were offered and clearance was 94 percent. The grease wool 21 micron contract for December was up 12 cents at 559A, February up nine at 583, April up 10 at 604, and June up six at 621. The 19 micron cash settlement clean wool contract for December was up 16 at 1001A, February up 16 at 1012, April down three at 1010 and June up five at 1025. The 23 micron cash clean wool contract for December was up 15 at 415A, February up four at 419, April up 15 472 and June up eight at 433.

In New Zealand, at Napier strong wool was down three at 373NZ cents per kilo clean, medium up four at 412, fine not established, and lamb wool was down five at 331. Of the 1451 clean tons or 11,528 bales offered, 88 percent sold. The NZ dollar to U.S. dollar rate was $.5118.
