October Meat Storage
4% Below A Year Ago
WASHINGTON (USDA) Total frozen meat
supplies in U.S. freezers on October 31 were four percent
below a year ago at 762.75 million pounds, but up two
percent from September 30 this year.
Frozen beef supplies on October 31 were down 11
percent at 318.2 million pounds, but eight percent more
than September. Boneless beef was down 85 percent from a
year ago at 271.8 million pounds, cuts up 24 percent at
46.4 million pounds.
Frozen pork supplies were up three percent from a year
ago but down one percent from last month at 424.8 million
pounds, breaking the previous record October high set
last year. Total hams in storage were up 17 percent from
a year ago at 115.7 million pounds, bellies up four
percent at 22.5 million pounds.
Veal supplies were up two percent from a year ago and
up 15 percent from a month earlier at 4.4 million pounds.
Frozen lamb and mutton supplies were down 27 percent
from a year ago and down seven percent from a month
earlier at 9.16 million pounds.
