Ty Jones Cattle Co., Canyon, bought in New Mexico for May delivery 420 No. 1 heifers to weigh 650 pounds at $80, for April 300 No. 1 steers to weigh 750 at $83, for March 240 No. 1 steers to weigh 750 at $83; for current delivery in the Texas Panhandle 500 No. 1 steers weighing 775 at $83 and 70 No. 1-1½ Okie and crossbred steers weighing 700 at $84.

Brown Cattle Co., Abilene, sold to a Texas Panhandle feedyard one load of No. 1½-2 medium to thin long age English feeder heifers weighing 713 at $71.84 f.o.b.; to a Northwestern Oklahoma buyer one load of big, fancy black Angus and black whiteface three year-old heifers to calve in January and February, weighing 1050-1175 pounds at $795 per head; to a West Texas feedyard a short load of No. 1 and better cows, three to six years old and open to short bred, weighing 873 at $41.60.

USDA reports 3475 head of feeder cattle selling direct off Oklahoma range, including: for May 2000 delivery medium and large No. 1 steers to weigh 750-775 pounds at $81-84 and 800-825 pounds at $79-82; for April similar steers to weigh 750 pounds at $82.50 and 800 pounds at $82.25, also similar heifers to weigh 750 at $77; for March steers to weigh 750 at $81.25-83; for current delivery steers weighing 750 at $81.50 and heifers weighing 540 pounds at $81.

Direct feeder cattle trade in the Northwest as confirmed by USDA totaled 2600 head. Medium and large No. 1 steers to weigh 800-825 pounds brought $80 and heifers to weigh 750 pounds $76, all f.o.b. Oregon and Washington for January delivery; for current delivery steers weighing 550-600 pounds were $88 f.o.b. Oregon and 600 pounds $88-90 f.o.b. Idaho; similar heifers weighing 800-825 pounds were $73 f.o.b. Washington.

Montana direct feeder trade by USDA count came to 2450 head. Medium and large No. 1 steers weighing 550 pounds brought $92-94, a load weighing 560 pounds $87, 600-650 pounds $86-88, and a load weighing 625 pounds $87; similar heifers weighing 500-600 pounds were $82-83, a load weighing 585 pounds $82 and a string weighing 600 pounds $82, all f.o.b. for current delivery.
