June in New Mexico 150 No. 1 heifers to weigh 700 at $79;
in the Texas Panhandle for current delivery 70 No. 1
steers weighing 725 at $84.Vann-Roach Cattle Co., Fort
Worth, bought in Northeast Texas for March delivery 70
No. 1 crossbred steers to weigh 750 pounds at $81.85 and
72 No. 1 heifers to weigh 675 at $77.85; for January 500
No. 1 English and exotic cross heifers to weigh 700 at
$79. The firm bought in West Texas for April delivery two
loads of similar steers to weigh 750 at $1 back of the
April futures board.
USDA reports 3075 head of feeder cattle selling direct
off Oklahoma range, including: for May 2000 delivery
medium and large No. 1 steers to weigh 775 pounds at $83
and 800 pounds at $79-82; for April similar steers to
weigh 750 at $83.50 and 800 pounds at $79-82, also
heifers to weigh 725 pounds at $76; for March steers to
weigh 750-825 at $83-83.50; for current delivery steers
weighing 625 at $89 and 750-775 pounds at $83-86.
Direct feeder cattle trade in the Northwest as
confirmed by USDA totaled 7300 head. Medium and large No.
1 steers weighing 550-600 pounds were $90 f.o.b. Idaho,
650 pounds $83 delivered in Washington, 675-700 pounds
$84 f.o.b. Idaho, 700 pounds $85 f.o.b. Idaho, 850-900
pounds $77.50-79 f.o.b. Washington and Oregon, and
800-825 pounds $80 f.o.b. Washington for January
delivery; similar heifers weighing 550 pounds were $83-84
f.o.b. Idaho, 600 pounds $82 f.o.b. Oregon and Idaho, 625
pounds $77 delivered in Washington, and 800-825 pounds
$75 f.o.b. Oregon and Washington.
Montana direct feeder cattle sales by USDA count came
to 3045 head. Medium and large No. 1 steers to weigh 750
pounds for January delivery brought $85; for current
delivery, similar steers weighing 500-550 pounds were
$93.50-95, 650 pounds $87.25-91; similar heifers weighing
515 pounds were $90, 625 pounds $82.25-86.50 and a load
of replacement quality heifers weighing 650 pounds were
$550 per head. All prices are f.o.b.
