Domestic Wool Slow,
Aussie Wools Lower
GREELEY, Colo. (USDA) Wool trading
remained slow across the U.S. again last week. Demand and
seller interest were light.
In Territory trading, Wyoming sold 20,000 pounds in
small lots; 22-24 micron, staple, average yield brought
25-30 cents grease, net the producer. California sold
120,000 pounds of 1.5-2 inch lamb wool, whiteface 20-22
micron 15 cents, crossbred 22-24 micron 10 cents grease,
net producer. Texas sold 180,000 pounds of 1.5-2 inch 20
micron, high yielding lamb wool for 33 cents grease,
f.o.b. the warehouse, lots with variable length 27 cents,
crossbred 22-23 micron 15 cents, 20-22 micron high
yielding bellies and pieces 27 cents, short belly wool or
lower yielding 22 cents, (no allowances made for
handling, storage or state checkoff fees).
Australia's eastern market indicator closed down 15
cents at 571A cents per kilo clean. Sales totaled 96,788
bales and clearance 80 percent. The 21 micron futures
grease wool contract for December was down 19 cents at
542A, February down 19 at 553, April down 14 at 578 and
June down 10 at 603. The 19 micron clean wool contract
for December was down 17 cents at 976A, February down 20
at 988, April down 24 at 999 and June down 24 at 1009.
The 23 micron clean contract for December was down 10
cents at 405A, February down 10 at 409, April down 10 at
462 and June down 10 at 433.
In New Zealand, at Napier, the market indicator was
not
available. Strong wool was down four cents at 373NZ
cents per kilo clean, medium wool down two at 428. Other
classes were not tested. Clearance was 93 percent on an
offering of 1144 clean tons.
