Borger, Texas, sold 200 mixed calves for March 10-25
delivery to Wayne Weir of Denver at $18 for heifers, $20
for steers.

Tom Pugh of Texhoma, Okla., sold two loads of two
year-old steers weighing 862 pounds at $20 to Walter
Wilmeth of Spearman, Texas. These were delivered Dec. 8
and were shipped to Illinois feeders.

Carl Funderburg of Amarillo sold 31 heifer yearlings
weighing 460 pounds at $17 and 33 steers weighing 505 at
$19 to Fred Saltzman of Hereford, Texas, delivered Dec.
13.

Joe Longhome of Dalhart sold 271 Angus cows, 67 with
calves and the balance springers, at $100 each. These
were two to five years old. They went to a Mr. Whatley of
Paducah, Texas, and were delivered Dec. 3.

Fred Hill of Phoenix bought 150 mixed yearlings from
W.H. Kimble of Amarillo at $18 for heifers and $19.50 for
steers, delivered Dec. 9. The heifers averaged 717
pounds, the steers 856.

Bill Barnes of Camargo, Okla., sold 291 choice fed
heifers, weighing around 900-950 pounds after 130 days on
feed, at $23.50 for Dec. 15-25 delivery out of the Boone
Feedlots at Dalhart, Texas.

Mid-West Feed Yards, San Angelo, bought and received
last week 2200 wooled feeder lambs weighing 77 pounds at
$16 from Bill Upton, San Angelo.

J.D. Amend of Amarillo sold 400 plain mixed breed
steers weighing about 700 pounds at $20.50 for Dec. 15
delivery to a Kansas buyer.

C.F. Augustine of Lamar, Colo., bought 100 choice
stocker cows four to five years old, 76 with calves and
the balance springers, at $200 for the pairs and $190 for
the springers and received them last week in the Grenada,
Colo. area.

L.S. Brown of Dumas, Texas, sold 100 steers estimated
to weigh about 750 pounds at $22 for delivery this week
to an Amarillo buyer.

Ed Castleberry, Dalhart, sold off his ranch at Romero
100 steer calves weighing about 350 pounds at $24 to
Orville Burtis, Kansas City.

The Mexican government again temporarily removed for
an indefinite period a $1.50 cwt. export duty on steers
crossing into the United States. Movement during late
November consisted of 300-350 pound steer calves at
$22-23 and 400-550 pound yearlings at around $20. The
bulk of these cattle, crossing at the rate of 1800 per
day at El Paso, were out of the state of Chihuahua and
were good and choice Herefords and Angus.

Adolph Hill, Hooker, Okla., and Raymond Chandler,
Dalhart, sold 470 Hereford and Angus steers weighing
about 775 pounds at $20.40.

Cotton McDade, Clayton, N.M., received 310 steer
calves weighing 310 pounds in El Paso at $23.50 from J.K.
Rose of El Paso and Casas Grandes, Chihuahua. These were
sent to McDade's ranch at Clayton.

Kenneth Cook, Vega, sold 146 cows weighing 800 pounds
to Richardson Seed Co., Vega, at $125 for 17 head with
calves at side, $78 for 75 dry cows and $75 for the rest.

An old Ringling Bros. elephant barn was to be used by
a private company in Peru, Ind., in a sizable
confinement-rearing project for lambs. The innovators
hoped to raise 3000-5000 head in total confinement.

was estimated at 710 million pounds, 20 percent above
Thanksgiving week and one percent above a year ago.
