CHAMPION STEERS
in Monday's special feeder sale at Producers Livestock Auction in San Angelo included the Herefords, 18 head consigned by Rocking Chair Ranch, Fort McKavett, averaging 520 pounds at $98 cwt. or $509.80 per head, and the crossbreds, 11 from George Sultemier, Fort McKavett, 625 pounds $93 or $581.25.

Feeder Steers And Heifers Firm
In Angelo Special Sale Monday

SAN ANGELO — Steers and heifers were firm here Monday in the season's ninth and final special feeder sale at Producers Livestock Auction.

Trading was termed active and demand good, the quality attractive, including several large bunches of fresh native cattle. Calves made up 70 percent of receipts, which totaled 1544 head compared to 1919 at the previous special sale last month and 1596 for the same day last year.

USDA reported prices this way:

Feeder steers: medium and large No. 1 300-400 pounds $104-118, 400-500 pounds $94-105, few $105-108, 500-600 pounds $85.50-95, few $95-99.50, set $104, 600-700 pounds $78-88, few $90-93, 700-800 pounds $76.50-80, few 800-900 pounds $75; medium and large 1-2 200-300 pounds $105-111, 300-400 pounds $95-104, 400-500 pounds $87-94, 500-600 pounds $80-85, 600-700 pounds $75-78, 700-800 pounds $70-76.

Feeder heifers: medium and large No. 1 200-300 pounds $93-98, 300-400 pounds $88-98, 400-500 pounds $79-89.50, 500-600 pounds $77-87.50, 600-700 pounds $78-84, 700-800 pounds $72-78.75; medium and large 1-2 300-400 pounds $80-88, 400-500 pounds $72-79, 500-700 pounds $68-76, 700-800 pounds $68-72.

Show winners included:

Herefords: champion steers, 18 head consigned by Rocking Chair Ranch, Fort McKavett, averaging 520 pounds at $98 cwt. or $509.80 per head; reserve steers, 10 from W-Four Ranch, Morgan, 749 pounds $80 or $599.20.

Angus: champion heifers, 13 from Bratton Ranch, Rochelle, 608 pounds $80 or $486.40; reserve heifers, 23 from Bratton Ranch, 755 pounds $78.75 or $594.56.

Crossbreds: champion steers, 11 from George Sultemier, Fort McKavett, 625 pounds $93 or $581.25; reserve steers, 12 from Mike Priddy, Talpa, 548 pounds $99 or $531.56; champion heifers, 10 from Mike Priddy, 534 pounds $85 or $453.90; reserve heifers, 10 from George DeWolf, Christoval, 654 pounds $74 or $483.96.
