Red Meat Production 2% Above A Year Ago

Total red meat production under federal inspection for the week ending August 17 was estimated at 1048.7 million pounds. This was 3.5 percent higher than a week ago and 0.4 percent lower than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was two percent higher than last year.

Slaughter Meat Goat Prices Mixed In Most Recent Trade

Slaughter meat goats traded mostly $5-10 higher this week. San Angelo and Goldthwaite kids sold $5-10 higher and Fredericksburg reported kids $10-15 higher. At New Holland, Pennsylvania slaughter kids were quoted mostly $10-20 lower.
