AMARILLO — Feeding cattle longer may look less efficient on paper, but in today’s market the final days can be among the most profitable. With more than 80 percent of late live-weight gain going into the carcass, feeders should focus less on live cost of gain and more on the value of incremental carcass gain, according to Pete Anderson, director of research for Midwest PMS.
