TAHC Reports Equine Herpes In Donkey

AUSTIN — (TAHC) — The Texas Animal Health Commission received confirmation of equine herpes myeloencephalopathy (EHM), the neurologic disease linked to equine herpes virus (EHV-1), in a donkey on June 24, 2026.            The donkey is classified as a rescue animal.

Resistol Rookie, Hayden Welsh Wins With Two Excellent Rides

RENO, Nev. — (PRCA) — Resistol Rookie Hayden Welsh put together two electric rides to get the win at the 2026 Reno Rodeo.            Welsh placed in both rounds and finished with 177.5 points on two bulls and picked up $20,798 along the way after his winning ride in the finals Saturday night.

70 YEARS AGO            Gene Prey of Amarillo bought 175 heifer yearlings from Ed Caskey, Amarillo, at $16.75 for August 20-September 10 delivery off Caskey’s ranch at Ragland, New Mexico. Prey also bought 30 registered yearling bulls last week from Charlie Kilgore of Amarillo at $200 per head.
